A Montreal-Quebec City loop adventure begins: An easy 41 miles on day 1

We biked from Boucherville to Sorel-Tracy on the Route Verte.

I pack light !

This was the start of a 10-day bike trip on Quebec’s fabulous Route Verte, and the tailwind gods were with us all the way.

I biked the full Lawrence Hopewell Trail loop! (And there’s one more improvement)

The rocky detour by Brearley House is no more. Hurray!

The newest section, just completed.

There’s been another improvement to the Lawrence Hopewell Trail. It’s relatively small compared to other developments this year, but it makes a loop ride even smoother.

I biked on part of South Brunswick’s Freedom Trail — here’s what it’s like

A 2.5-mile trail sandwiched between U.S. 1 and the train tracks.

When South Brunswick, NJ, in 2024 proudly announced that it had built the final section of its Freedom Trail, I knew I needed to check it out.

I finally got there, and here’s what I found.

I’m planning a loop bike ride from Montreal to Quebec City and back — must-sees and must-eats?

I paired pedaling the newest part of the Schuylkill River Trail with an off-bike adventure

A day in Philadelphia: a 30-mile bike ride and a trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary.

A month after the ribbon cutting, I finally was able to check out the latest extension to the Schuylkill River Trail — the gleaming white Christian to Crescent section that juts above the water.

That new boardwalk section of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail is beyond spectacular

Now I can bike the full 20-mile loop!

Let’s just say that this new boardwalk is one of the best parts of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail — and that’s saying a lot because this trail already had so wonderful spots.

I finally biked the entire Virginia Capital Trail — here’s what it’s like

Five stars.

Almost eight years ago, I rode parts of the Virginia Capital Trail over two days.

I’ve finally come back to ride the entire trail, also over two days (out and back in sections) but this time with friends. Yes, I’ve found another 5-star trail.

I biked to 2 of New Jersey’s best bakeries using the Lawrence Hopewell Trail

At the Gingered Peach and Terra Momo.

Lunch and dessert? Or dessert and dessert?

This was a two-bakery bicycle ride, inspired by a late-2024 list of the state’s 71 best bakeries, as judged by NJ.com, the owner of the state’s biggest newspaper.

2 days of bicycling on Tucson’s Loop Trail

What we saw on just a small part of Tucson’s 137 miles and counting of wide paved and connected trails.

How amazing is this: 137 miles of connected, paved and wide trails that make a loop and some spurs in and around Tucson, full of everyone from small packs of fast-moving road cyclists to someone out for a walk, with or without a dog? And more miles are coming.

My second Troll Trek: 7 trolls and 1 slice of pie

Another day hunting for trolls in Burlington County, New Jersey.

Another sunny, unseasonably warm day, so a good time to hunt for more of those trolls in Burlington County. This is a cool art project using recycled materials that was inspired by Danish artist Thomas Danbo’s Big Rusty, who moved into the county several years ago.
