Savannah to Titusville, Fla.

The end goal of Key West in 2019 is in sight!

This year — 2018 — we Week-A-Year riders will bike the East Coast Greenway from Savannah to Titusville, Fla., a town where three(!) long-distance trails meet and across the river from the Kennedy Space Center. Our route covers 300 miles over 6 days. Usually we bike for 7, but this time we get a day to play in Titusville. I’ll be heading to see the rockets! And the wildlife sanctuary!

So much is happening with trails in Titusville that you really should watch this video.

Here’s the plan for this year’s Week-A-Year ride:

Nov. 11: 47 miles from Savannah to Hinesville, Ga. Here’s the ride report. On Day 0, we explored Savannah.

Nov. 12: 85 miles from Hinesville to Jekyll Island, Ga. (but with a shuttle option at the 54.6-mile mark). True, we didn’t ride Every Damn Inch.

Nov. 13: 62 miles from Jekyll Island to St. Mary’s, Ga. Here’s what it was like.

Nov. 14: 60 miles from St. Mary’s to St. Augustine, Fla. Plus a few boat rides.

Nov. 15: 54 miles from St. Augustine to Daytona Beach, Fla. A tough day for an unexpected reason.

Nov. 16: 50 miles from Daytona Beach to Titusville. An amazing trail to end the week.

Yes, this is a fundraising ride. So if you want to support the East Coast Greenway (I pay for the ride), here’s a link to my page. And thank you.

After this, I will have ridden the route from Newark, NJ, to Titusville as well as much of the East Coast Greenway route in Maine and a good chuck of it in Connecticut. On my bucket list is a self-organized ride from Portland, Maine, to Hartford, Conn. … or perhaps all the way to New Haven and then NYC? And do at least some  of it in 2019?

In 2019, we’ll ride the rest of the way to Key West.
